APEC, India Boost Hydrogen Energy Initiatives

India's 2024 Union Budget allocated INR 600 crore to the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aiming to make India a global hub for green hydrogen and achieve energy independence by 2047. Concurrently, APEC nations, including Australia, are emphasizing hydrogen's role in sustainable energy, with $127 billion in planned hydrogen investments and cooperation to integrate hydrogen into their energy mix. APEC's energy ministers reinforced this by committing to international cooperation for secure, affordable, and sustainable energy, recognizing hydrogen's pivotal role in this transition. Additionally, APEC health and food security ministers issued joint statements on improving healthcare and food security, emphasizing the importance of preparedness, inclusivity, and innovation.
