Tropical Depression 12 May Become Hurricane Kirk

Tropical Depression 12, currently located around 690 miles from the Cabo Verde Islands with sustained winds of 35 mph, is forecasted to strengthen into a tropical storm and eventually a major Category 3 hurricane named Kirk later this week. Moving west at 8 mph, it is expected to follow a west-to-northwest path before curving north due to subtropical ridge erosion. The system will remain in the open Atlantic and poses no threat to the United States. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Joyce has weakened to a depression, and Hurricane Isaac has downgraded to a tropical storm. Additional tropical disturbances are being monitored in the Caribbean and near Africa, with potential development chances in the coming days.
