Pedestrian hit by police car

A 19-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed by a Cincinnati police cruiser while responding to a shots fired call on Este Avenue around 6 p.m. on Thursday. Police Chief Teresa Theetge reported that the pedestrian was not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident, and the officer had his lights and sirens activated. The victim was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses are being encouraged to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic Unit.
