Tanvi Patri Wins U15 Badminton Title

Thirteen-year-old Tanvi Patri from Odisha secured the girls' singles title at the U-15 Badminton Asia U-17 & U-15 Junior Championships in Chengdu, China, reaffirming her status as one of India's most promising badminton talents. Tanvi, who trains at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA), showcased remarkable resilience and skill, defeating Vietnam's second seed Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen 22-20, 21-11 in the final. Despite trailing 11-17 in the first game, Tanvi's calm composure led to a stunning comeback, ultimately winning the title without dropping a single game throughout the tournament. This victory places her among previous Indian champions like Samiya Imad Farooqui and Tasnim Mir. Vimal Kumar, Director of PPBA, sees great potential in Tanvi, drawing comparisons to P V Sindhu. India also won a bronze medal in the U-17 boys' singles event, thanks to Gnana Dattu TT.
