Alberta Men Charged with Threats Against Politicians
Two men from Alberta have been charged with uttering threats against prominent Canadian politicians, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh. Mason John Baker, a 23-year-old from Calgary, posted threats on the social media platform X and was charged on June 6. In a separate case, 67-year-old Garry Belzevick from Edmonton allegedly made threats on YouTube and was charged on June 13 with three counts of uttering threats. Both men are scheduled to appear in court this week. The RCMP emphasized that online threats are taken seriously and will be investigated thoroughly to hold individuals accountable.
