In Nagpur Central Prison, officials tied Rakhis on inmates' wrists on behalf of their sisters, and female inmates at Thane Central Jail crafted and sold over 600 Rakhis. The festival saw various celebrations, including schoolchildren tying Rakhis to Prime Minister Modi and widespread observances in Ranchi and other cities. The Shubh Muhurat for tying Rakhi was between 1:30 pm to 9:08 pm, and banks were closed in several states observing the holiday. Despite the joyous celebrations, Haiti faced a grim situation with multiple inmates killed in a prison break amid ongoing gang violence.
