KFC Closes Multiple Locations in Midwest

EYM Group has shut down 25 KFC locations across Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin, citing ongoing economic struggles and weak sales post-pandemic. Among the closures are multiple units in Indianapolis, Peoria, and Rockford, affecting approximately 81 employees in Wisconsin alone. The company, which has previously closed other franchises like Pizza Hut and Burger King, is facing bankruptcy and is seeking new ownership for some locations. KFC's same-store sales have declined significantly, with a 5% drop last year and a 7% decrease in the first half of this year, prompting the brand to close over 3% of its restaurants recently. The closures reflect broader challenges in the fast-food industry, including inflation and changing consumer habits. Despite these challenges, KFC confirmed that other locations in the affected states remain operational.
