Coach Criticizes NRAI Olympic Selection Policy

Jaspal Rana, coach of double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, has criticized the National Rifle Association of India's (NRAI) inconsistent selection policy, arguing that it harms promising shooters by creating uncertainty and failing to provide necessary support. He emphasized that the selection criteria change every six months, which undermines shooters' preparation and performance. Rana highlighted the cases of former stars like Saurabh Chaudhary and Jitu Rai, who have faded from prominence due to the lack of a stable system. He suggested that the federation should establish a consistent policy, regardless of its merits, to help shooters regain their footing. Furthermore, Rana expressed concern about the lack of access for personal coaches during national trials, which he believes is detrimental to the athletes' success. The NRAI's previous amendments to its selection criteria have not resolved these ongoing issues, and Rana insists that more needs to be done to support Olympic and world medallists.
