Philly 10K Race Draws Thousands, Affects Traffic

The Philly 10K returned for its 11th year on Sunday, August 25, featuring a new Kids Dash event for children aged 2 to 4. The race commenced at 7:30 a.m. along South Street and included a scenic route through South Philadelphia, ending at 5th and South streets with a street festival. Participants, such as first-time runner Anesha Bonelli, expressed excitement about the unique views and the community spirit the event fosters. The city implemented extensive road closures and parking restrictions from early morning until post-race, advising drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. As a rain-or-shine event, the organizers assured that any extreme weather updates would be communicated promptly. Proceeds from the race benefit local charities, with this year’s donations going to Friends of FDR Park.
