CrossFit Athlete Dies at Texas Competition

Luzar Dukic, a 28-year-old Serbian CrossFit athlete, tragically died while swimming during the first day of the 2024 CrossFit Games at Marine Creek Lake in Fort Worth, Texas. The event organizers expressed their sorrow and canceled the rest of the day's events, while the future of the competition remains uncertain. Dukic, identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner, was noted as the third-ranked CrossFit athlete in Serbia and had previously placed in the top ten in past Games. Emergency services responded after he was reported unaccounted for in the water, and CrossFit CEO Don Faul confirmed the organization is cooperating with investigations into the incident. At the time of the event, an estimated 10,000 spectators were present, with competitors vying for over $300,000 in prizes.
