Volusia County Increases Non-Resident Beach Parking Fees
Volusia County is implementing new parking fees starting Tuesday, increasing costs for non-residents from $20 to $30, while residents will enjoy free beach access. This change aims to provide cost savings to residents, as their taxes contribute to beach maintenance, according to County Coastal Director Jessica Fentress. Active beach passes for both groups will remain valid until expiration, but residents must register to access free parking. Additionally, starting January 1, non-residents will have to pay for parking in off-beach lots at rates of $20 per day or $100 for an annual pass. The county's new parking program will cost approximately $1 million annually, with various events planned to assist residents during the transition. Meanwhile, in Beach Haven, the PTA is offering parking at the school for $15 during the Merchants’ Mart and Chowder Cook-Off, aimed at supporting school fundraising efforts.
