Multiple Fatalities in Texas and Utah Crashes
A tragic single-vehicle crash in Wise County, Texas, resulted in four deaths and 10 injuries when a 15-passenger van carrying 14 people rolled over multiple times after the driver veered off the highway and overcorrected. Only one passenger was wearing a seatbelt, and that person was the only one not ejected from the vehicle. Victims included Florida residents of Haitian descent, and authorities confirmed they were not trafficking or smuggling victims. Separately, a high-speed crash in Vernal, Utah, killed a 17-year-old boy and critically injured an 18-year-old girl after their car drifted across lanes and rolled down an embankment, ejecting both occupants. Witnesses reported the car was traveling at high speeds before the crash. Both incidents highlight the critical importance of seatbelt use in preventing fatalities and serious injuries in rollover crashes.
