Utah Supreme Court Rejects Lyman's Legal Challenges
The Utah Supreme Court has rejected multiple legal challenges from Republican gubernatorial candidate Phil Lyman, who sought to remove Governor Spencer Cox and Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson from office and invalidate the GOP primary results. Lyman argued that internal party rules should override state election law and questioned the legitimacy of signatures gathered by Cox's campaign. The court found no factual or legal basis for Lyman's claims and dismissed his petitions. Lyman has indicated plans to run as a write-in candidate. Separately, the court also dismissed a petition from Colby Jenkins, who challenged the exclusion of late-postmarked ballots in a primary he narrowly lost. Both rulings affirm the state’s adherence to established election laws and processes.
