HMS Hawke Wreck Found Off Aberdeenshire Coast

Specialist divers from Lost in Waters Deep have discovered the wreck of the HMS Hawke, a British warship sunk by a German U-boat during WWI, off the coast of Scotland. The ship, which sank in less than eight minutes on October 15, 1914, resulted in the loss of 524 sailors, with only 70 survivors. Found about 70 miles east of Fraserburgh at a depth of 360 feet, the wreck is in remarkably good condition due to the low nutrient levels in the water. The team utilized historical data, such as U-boat commanders' journals and Navy logs, to locate the wreck. The Royal Navy is expected to formally identify the site in the coming weeks. The discovery offers a haunting glimpse into the past, with well-preserved artifacts like guns, portholes, and Royal Navy crockery still in place.
