Chinese Actress Cheng Pei-pei Dies at 78
Legendary Chinese actress Cheng Pei-pei, known for her pioneering roles in martial arts films, has passed away at the age of 78. Cheng, born in Shanghai and famous for her roles in 'Come Drink With Me' and 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,' died at her home in the San Francisco Bay Area after battling corticobasal degeneration, a rare neurodegenerative disease. Diagnosed in 2019, Cheng chose to keep her illness private to spend time with her family. Her career spanned over six decades, during which she earned the title 'Queen of Martial Arts'. Cheng's family confirmed her death in a heartfelt statement, and her brain was donated to medical research. Her final role was in Disney's live-action remake of 'Mulan' in 2020.
