Ivey Overhauls Alabama Workforce Development

Governor Kay Ivey has made significant appointments to advance Alabama's economic and workforce development initiatives. Eight prominent business leaders have been appointed to the Alabama Growth Alliance to support the state's new economic development plan. Additionally, the Alabama Workforce Council and State Workforce Development Board have been merged to form the Alabama Workforce Board, with Jeff Peoples of Alabama Power and Phil Webb of Webb Concrete appointed as chairs. This restructuring is part of the Alabama Workforce Transformation Act, which aims to streamline workforce development and improve the state's labor participation rate. The new board and its Executive Committee will provide strategic plans for all workforce programs and ensure industry leaders play a central role in decision-making.
