Skenes Makes All-Star Team in Debut Season
Paul Skenes has become the first player to be drafted No. 1 overall and make the MLB All-Star team in his first season, just eight weeks after his debut. Skenes, who was selected for the NL roster, has posted a 2.12 ERA, 78 strikeouts, and a 5-0 record in his first 10 starts. His impressive performances include setting a record for the most outings with seven or more strikeouts in his first 10 MLB games. The Philadelphia Phillies are sending a franchise-record seven players to the All-Star Game, which will feature 32 new All-Stars and 17 new pitchers. Skenes' rapid rise has garnered significant attention, further amplified by his relationship with gymnast Olivia Dunne. The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington on July 16.
