Federal Grants for Key Bridge Replacements in 3 States
Massachusetts, Alabama, and North Carolina have secured significant federal funding for critical bridge replacement projects under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law's Bridge Investment Program. Massachusetts received nearly $1 billion to replace the aging Sagamore and Bourne Bridges over the Cape Cod Canal, totaling $1.72 billion in federal funding. Alabama was awarded $550 million for a new I-10 bridge connecting Mobile to Baldwin County. North Carolina received $242 million to replace the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge in Wilmington, covering about half of the $485 million needed. These projects are expected to create thousands of jobs and improve transportation infrastructure for millions of residents and visitors.
