Woman Uses AirTag to Catch Mail Thieves

A woman in California, frustrated by repeated mail thefts, cleverly used an Apple AirTag to track down the thieves. After mailing herself a package containing the AirTag, she became a victim of mail theft again, prompting local law enforcement to respond. The AirTag led deputies to Santa Maria, where they arrested two suspects, Virginia Franchessca Lara, 27, and Donald Ashton Terry, 37, who were found with the victim's mail and other stolen items. Both suspects face multiple felony charges, including identity theft and credit card fraud, with bail set at $50,000 and $460,000, respectively. The sheriff's department praised the victim for contacting authorities instead of confronting the suspects herself. This incident highlights the effectiveness of modern tracking technology in aiding law enforcement efforts.
