Two Charged in Villawood Drug Ring
Police have charged 49-year-old Dirichukwu Patrick Nweke, an immigration detainee at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre in Sydney, for allegedly running a drug ring utilizing encrypted messaging to coordinate transactions. Investigators claim he directed a network of runners outside the facility while dealing large amounts of methylamphetamine. A search on July 11 uncovered three mobile phones, and previous seizures included two kilograms of methylamphetamine and $169,000 in cash linked to the operation. Additionally, during a search of a Liverpool residence, police found 750 grams of methylamphetamine and 90 grams of heroin, indicating an attempt to dispose of the drugs. A 24-year-old accomplice was also arrested and charged with related offences. Both men have been denied bail following their court appearances.
