R. Kelly Appeals Convictions to Supreme Court

R. Kelly is appealing his federal sex crimes convictions to the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing that the charges related to his conduct from the 1990s exceed the statute of limitations. His legal team contends that the 2003 PROTECT Act, which removed the statute of limitations for child sex crimes, should not be applied retroactively. Previously, a federal appeals court upheld his convictions, ruling that the statute of limitations could be extended if the defendant was prosecutable when the law was amended.
