American Woman Found Chained in Maharashtra Forest

Lalita Kayi Kumar, a 50-year-old American woman, was found severely dehydrated and chained to a tree in a forest near Sonurli village, Maharashtra. She claimed her former husband chained her and left her to die, allegedly without food or water for 40 days. Her note mentioned extreme psychosis and the need for intravenous food. Police have registered an attempted murder case against her ex-husband and are investigating the claims. Kumar, who had been living in India for a decade, was found with an expired visa and documents indicating a Tamil Nadu address. She is currently receiving treatment in Goa for her physical and psychiatric conditions.
