USA Network Orders The Rainmaker Series
USA Network is set to reboot John Grisham's novel 'The Rainmaker' into a scripted drama series, marking its first original scripted production since 2020. John Slattery, known for his role in 'Mad Men', has been cast as Leo F. Drummond, a prominent attorney representing a powerful law firm that opposes the protagonist, Rudy Baylor. The series follows Baylor, a recent law school graduate, as he tackles legal battles against corruption and uncovers conspiracies linked to a client's son's mysterious death. The project was ordered to series in June 2024, with Michael Seitzman and Jason Richman serving as writers and executive producers alongside Grisham and Jason Blum. The adaptation aims to revitalize USA Network's programming strategy, which has seen a decline in viewership due to cord-cutting trends. The series will continue the legacy of the original 1997 film adaptation directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
