The LSU Tigers, led by Garrett Nussmeier in place of opted-out Heisman-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels, triumphed over the Wisconsin Badgers 35-31 in the 2023 ReliaQuest Bowl. Nussmeier threw for 171 yards and one interception in his first career start. Wisconsin, without their leading rusher and passer Braelon Allen, were led by quarterback Tanner Mordecai who threw three touchdowns in the first half. Despite this strong start by Wisconsin, LSU managed a comeback with 21 points in the second half. This match marked the end of the 2022 season for both teams with LSU finishing the year with a 9-3 record and Wisconsin at 7-5.
