Bodycam Footage Released in Victoria Lee Shooting

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office has released body camera footage and 911 call recordings related to the fatal shooting of Victoria Lee, 25, by Fort Lee police officers during a mental health crisis on July 28. Lee's brother initially called 911 requesting an ambulance and later informed the dispatcher that Lee was holding a knife, which led to police involvement. The footage shows officers breaking down the apartment door and encountering Lee, who was holding a water jug, though it is unclear if she had a knife at the time. Officer Tony Pickens Jr. fired a single fatal shot. Lee's family and advocacy groups have criticized the police response as unnecessarily aggressive, asserting that she had dropped the knife before the shooting. The incident remains under investigation by the Attorney General's Office.
