3-Year-Old Critically Injured in Accidental Shooting

A 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself at a home in Newark, New Jersey. Police responded to reports of gunfire on Wainwright Street near Bragaw Avenue around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, officers found the injured child and two other unharmed children. The boy was taken to University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Authorities believe the shooting was accidental and self-inflicted, and a gun was recovered at the scene. It remains unclear how the child accessed the firearm and whether any adults were present at the time.
