Punjab Lifts Ban on Teacher Transfers

The Punjab government has lifted the ban on teacher transfers, allowing applications to be submitted online from August 12 to August 31. This decision includes provisions for transfers based on merit, mutual consent, and various personal circumstances such as marriage and disability. The scrutiny of applications will occur from September 1 to September 5, with an appeals process from September 6 to September 9, culminating in transfer orders being issued on September 13. Concurrently, the Punjab School Education Department extended the deadline for general transfer applications until August 10, 2024, due to technical issues with the application portal. NASSCOM has expressed concerns over a significant GST demand on Infosys, which they believe could lead to litigation and investor uncertainty. Infosys refutes the GST demand, arguing that recent regulations exempt such transactions.
