Actor Samrat Mukherjee Arrested After Collision

Bengali actor Samrat Mukherjee was arrested in Kolkata after his car collided with a motorcycle in the Behala area early Tuesday morning. The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old named Sourav Halder, was severely injured and taken to SSKM Hospital after initially being treated at M.R. Bangur Hospital. Witnesses reported that Mukherjee was driving at high speed from the wrong direction when the accident occurred, causing his vehicle to also crash into a nearby house, damaging its boundary wall. Police have seized Mukherjee's vehicle and he has been placed in custody until August 23 as the investigation continues. Mukherjee is related to well-known Bollywood figures Rani Mukerji, Kajol, and Ayan Mukerji, and has a career spanning over 25 years in the film industry. The police are currently conducting a medical examination of the actor as part of their investigation.
