UK Government Files Contempt Case Against Tommy Robinson
Tommy Robinson, also known as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is facing new legal action for contempt of court after allegedly breaching a High Court order from 2021 that prohibited him from repeating defamatory statements about a Syrian refugee. The Attorney General's Office has lodged a second contempt application against him, relating to a film titled 'Silenced' that was shown at a rally in Trafalgar Square, and further actions from June to July 2023. Robinson was served the notice via his X account after ignoring earlier communications. If found guilty, he could face up to two years in prison, a fine, or both. A hearing for both contempt applications is scheduled for October 28. This follows Robinson's departure from the UK just before a scheduled court appearance regarding similar allegations.
