Caltrans Worker Killed in Tow Truck Accident

Alexander Rodish, a Caltrans worker, was fatally struck by a tow truck on the 5 Freeway in San Clemente. The incident occurred on Monday morning when Rodish and another worker had pulled over to pick up debris. The tow truck driver veered off the road, hitting the Caltrans vehicle and running over Rodish. The collision also caused the Caltrans vehicle to hit a Nissan Rogue, resulting in minor injuries to its driver and the other Caltrans worker. This marks the third fatality of a Caltrans worker along Southern California freeways this year. Governor Gavin Newsom ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff in Rodish's honor.
