In an interview with IndieWire, Damon revealed that his emotional attachment to the original film, directed by Anthony Minghella, makes it hard for him to appreciate the new series, despite its beauty and critical acclaim. He stated, 'It was hard at first for me to sink back into it just because I have so many great memories.' The new series, directed by Steven Zaillian, follows the same story of deceit and murder, with Scott, Johnny Flynn, and Dakota Fanning in leading roles. While Damon's nostalgic feelings hinder his viewing experience, Jude Law, who also starred in the original film, praised the new adaptation, calling it rewarding to see the material from a fresh perspective. The series has garnered rave reviews since its release.
