George Daniel Releases Solo Single 'Screen Cleaner'
George Daniel, the drummer for The 1975, has released his debut solo single 'Screen Cleaner,' featuring Swedish pop star Tove Lo, through his new electronic music imprint, dh2, under the Dirty Hit label. The track combines dance elements with hi-hats and vocal samples and was co-written with Tove Lo and co-producer Tim Nelson. Daniel has been previewing his solo work during performances alongside Charli XCX at major events like Glastonbury and Boiler Room in New York. The launch of dh2 included a party where Daniel performed with Kelly Lee Owens, the label's first signing. Amidst this, Daniel and The 1975 are facing a lawsuit related to a controversial onstage kiss by lead singer Matty Healy. This solo venture comes as The 1975 announced an indefinite hiatus from live performances, with Healy's mother commenting on his exhaustion from touring.
