Google data center in Vietnam
Google is considering building its first major hyperscale data center in Vietnam, likely near Ho Chi Minh City, which would represent a significant investment by a U.S. technology company in the region. This development could enhance Vietnam's appeal as a tech investment destination, especially as it has struggled to attract foreign capital due to inadequate infrastructure. Although specific investment details remain undisclosed, the center is projected to be operational by 2027, driven by Google's expanding cloud services clientele and the country's growing digital economy. Hyperscale data centers, which have power consumption comparable to that of a large city, could cost between $300 million and $650 million. Google's interest comes as it also plans a $2 billion investment in Malaysia, highlighting the competitive landscape of Southeast Asia's tech infrastructure.
