Zaheer Khan Set to Mentor Lucknow Super Giants

Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan is in discussions to become the mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The mentorship role has been vacant since Gautam Gambhir left for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023, and LSG's bowling coach Morne Morkel also departed to join Team India's coaching staff. LSG hopes to leverage Zaheer's extensive experience, both as a player and a coach, with plans to involve him in scouting and player development programs during the off-season. Zaheer has previously held significant roles with the Mumbai Indians, including head of global development and director of cricket. If the deal materializes, Zaheer will work alongside head coach Justin Langer and other notable coaching staff like Adam Voges, Lance Klusener, and Jonty Rhodes. The franchise aims to bolster their coaching unit well before the 2025 IPL mega auction, where retention rules are expected to be announced soon.
