James Morris Resigns from Gateway Church

James Morris, son of Gateway Church founder Robert Morris, has resigned as associate pastor along with his wife, Bridgette, following his father's resignation amid sexual abuse allegations. This decision, made collectively with church elders, disrupts the church's leadership as James was set to succeed his father as senior pastor in 2025. Robert Morris, who founded the church in 2000 and led it to become one of the largest megachurches in the U.S., resigned after admitting to sexually abusing a girl in the 1980s. The church has hired Haynes & Boone LLP to conduct an independent investigation into the allegations.
