ETIAS Travel Authorization Required for 2025
Starting in 2025, UK citizens and travelers from other visa-exempt countries will need to apply for a €7 European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) to visit 30 European countries, including popular destinations like Spain, Portugal, and Italy. The ETIAS, valid for three years or until the traveler's passport expires, can be applied for online or via a mobile app. This requirement aims to enhance EU border security by tracking who enters the Schengen Area. Alongside ETIAS, the Entry/Exit System (EES) will launch on November 10, 2024, requiring biometric data from non-EU travelers. Both systems have faced delays but are now confirmed to roll out in the specified timelines. Travelers are advised to ensure their travel document matches the one used in their ETIAS application to avoid issues at boarding or entry.
