Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova underwent shoulder surgery after withdrawing from the U.S. Open due to injury. The 25-year-old revealed on Instagram that she had been struggling with shoulder pain for several months, necessitating the surgery. Vondrousova, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and reached the U.S. Open quarter-finals last year, expressed optimism about her recovery, stating that everything went well and she would begin rehab soon. Her recent struggles also included a disappointing first-round exit at Wimbledon in July, where she became the first defending female champion to lose her opening match since 1994. Additionally, she had previously pulled out of the Paris Olympics due to a hand injury. Vondrousova looks forward to returning to the court healthy and happy.
