Rome tornado Relief Fundraiser
In the aftermath of the EF-2 tornado that struck Rome, NY on July 16, local organizations are mobilizing to support recovery efforts. A blueberry picking fundraiser is scheduled for July 27 at Candella's Farm, with all proceeds aiding tornado relief through the Community Foundation. County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. and Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan are set to provide public updates on recovery efforts during a press conference on July 26 at City Hall. Despite the extensive damage to downtown Rome, including shuttered businesses and debris-laden streets, no fatalities were reported, and residents are determined to rebuild. Cleanup efforts are ongoing, with community members actively participating in restoring their city. The local initiative, Hopeful Four, continues to play a vital role in coordinating support for affected families.
