A fatal accident involving three semi-trucks on Interstate 40 near Brinkley, Arkansas, has resulted in significant traffic disruptions and a lengthy closure of the highway. The crash, which occurred around 5:30 p.m., was exacerbated by a grass fire that obscured visibility, leading to the multi-vehicle collision. One of the trucks was reported to be carrying military equipment, prompting an evacuation of a one-mile radius due to the potential for explosives. Arkansas State Police confirmed one death and are coordinating with military officials from Louisiana to safely remove the hazardous cargo. Traffic is being detoured at Exit 202 for eastbound and Exit 216 for westbound drivers. Authorities have advised motorists to use Highway 70 and Highway 64 as alternate routes during the cleanup effort.
