Quinton Byfield, the 21-year-old forward and the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, signed a five-year, $31.25 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Kings. Byfield had a breakout season in 2023-24, posting career highs with 20 goals and 35 assists in 80 regular-season games and adding four assists in five playoff contests. The contract, with an average annual value of $6.25 million, runs through the 2028-29 season. Byfield has accumulated 88 points in 179 career NHL games and has become a significant player on special teams, particularly with 14 power-play points last season.
