China's Hou Zhihui, Li Fabin Win Gold Medals

China has made a strong start at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning gold in both artistic swimming and weightlifting events. The Chinese artistic swimming team claimed their first Olympic gold with a score of 996.1389, outperforming the USA and Spain, while the routine's theme, "Light of Life," symbolized their journey to victory. In weightlifting, Hou Zhihui and Li Fabin successfully defended their Olympic titles, with Hou setting a new Olympic record of 206 kg in the women's 49-kilogram category, and Li breaking his own record with a total lift of 310 kg in the men's 61-kilogram category. Romania's Mihaela Cambei and Thailand's Surodchana Khambao took silver and bronze in the women's event, while Thailand's Theerapong Silachai and the USA's Hampton Morris followed Li Fabin in the men's competition. The absence of Russian athletes, due to their exclusion from the Games, has allowed China to shine in these events.
