Rameswar Teli nomination papers
The BJP candidates Mission Ranjan Das and Rameswar Teli filed their nominations for two Rajya Sabha bye-elections in Assam, with no opposing candidates emerging by the deadline, ensuring their uncontested win. The nominations were supported by high-ranking party leaders, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In Tripura, BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee and CPI-M's Sudhan Das also submitted their nominations for the state's single Rajya Sabha seat, with Bhattacharjee expected to win given the BJP's majority in the assembly. The elections for these seats are scheduled for September 3, coinciding with the scrutiny of nominations and the withdrawal deadline. The vacant seats in Assam arose after former MPs were elected to the Lok Sabha, while in Tripura, the vacancy followed former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb's resignation. The Congress party opted not to contest in Assam, acknowledging their lack of support to win a seat.
