Chinese mixed doubles in Paris
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, China's Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong claimed the gold medal in mixed doubles badminton, decisively defeating South Korea's Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun with a score of 21-8, 21-11. The victory marks China's consecutive gold in this event, adding to their record of five mixed doubles golds since 1996. Japan's Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino secured the bronze by overcoming South Korea's Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung in a close match. Meanwhile, in men's doubles, Taiwan's Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin advanced to the finals against China's Wang Chang and Liang Weikeng after defeating Denmark's top-ranked duo. Additionally, China's last-minute tennis mixed doubles pairing of Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen is aiming for gold following a surprising partnership formed just before the competition. As the Games progress, China is positioned to secure more medals, including in women's doubles badminton.
