Over 140 Hospitalized in Mathura Food Poisoning
Over 140 people, including women and children, from various villages in Mathura fell ill after consuming dishes made from buckwheat flour (kuttu ka atta) during Janmashtami celebrations. Symptoms reported included vomiting, dizziness, and shivering, with six critically ill patients transferred to Agra's S.N. Medical College. Local health authorities swiftly responded, admitting many patients to district and private hospitals and launching an investigation into the contaminated flour supply. A joint team from the Food and Drug Administration and other departments raided and sealed the shops of two vendors suspected of supplying the contaminated flour. Officials have assured that all victims are currently stable and are receiving appropriate treatment. The district administration is covering treatment costs, including those in private facilities.
