Mudslide in China
A mudslide in Yuelin village, Hunan province, China, claimed the lives of eleven individuals on Sunday, following heavy rains from Tropical Storm Gaemi. The storm, which weakened after making landfall, has also resulted in fatalities in the Philippines and Taiwan, with at least 34 and 10 deaths reported, respectively. The mudslide occurred at around 8 a.m. and initially trapped 18 people, with reports indicating six were rescued and no further details on the missing were available. Additionally, a delivery worker in Shanghai died when a tree fell on him due to strong winds related to the storm. The severity of injuries among the survivors remains unclear, and the occupants of the house were reportedly temporary renters. This incident marks the first fatalities in China linked to the storm, highlighting its devastating impact across the region.
