Sixth Man Convicted in Thomas Dooley Murder
Daniel Dooley has been found guilty of the murder of his cousin Thomas Dooley, who was killed in a brutal attack while attending a funeral in Tralee, County Kerry, in October 2022. The jury's decision, reached after nearly 21 hours of deliberation, was an 11 to 1 majority verdict. This conviction marks the sixth guilty verdict in the case, with prior convictions for five other men, including family members of the victim. The prosecution described the attack as an 'honour killing' involving 'medieval violence' with bladed weapons. The victim's wife, Siobhan Dooley, was also injured during the incident, requiring extensive medical treatment. Sentencing for all involved is scheduled for July 30, 2024.
