He expressed doubts about Russia's compliance with the exchange agreement, fearing potential poisoning of the released prisoners until their safe landing in Germany. Buschmann highlighted the dangers in Russia, referencing the killing of journalists and arbitrary detentions under President Putin's regime. He also noted concerns that more political prisoners could be captured by Russia. The exchange included notorious assassin Vadim Krasikov, whose release raised ethical questions for Germany's government. Despite the risks, Buschmann reassured that the decision was made with the welfare of the released prisoners in mind, emphasizing that it wouldn't set a precedent for future negotiations with Russia.
