BJP MLA Proposes Alcohol Ban in Goa
BJP MLA Premendra Shet has proposed a ban on alcohol consumption in Goa, arguing that it would help develop the state ('viksit') and reduce alcohol-related accidents. During a legislative assembly session, he highlighted the increasing incidents of road and factory accidents linked to alcohol use and criticized the lack of control over liquor sales. Shet noted that other Indian states have successfully implemented similar bans and suggested that Goa should follow suit. He claimed that such a ban would not negatively impact tourism, which is vital to the state's economy. The Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, did not comment on the proposal during the session. Shet asserted that those in the liquor business could transition to other industries if the ban were enacted.
