Bangladesh border security
In response to the political upheaval in Bangladesh following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, India has intensified border security measures across its northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura. The Assam government has put police forces on high alert and restricted movement through Integrated Check Posts. Meanwhile, Meghalaya has imposed a night curfew along its border, and Mizoram has increased police patrols. West Bengal's Governor assured that the border remains secure while a watchdog panel has been established to combat misinformation. The Border Security Force (BSF) has received strict instructions to prevent unauthorized entries, with heightened surveillance along the 4,096-kilometer border. These developments come amid concerns that unrest in Bangladesh could spill over into India, prompting government discussions and precautionary measures.
