Heavy Rains Cause Severe Flooding in Vijayawada

Vijayawada has been severely impacted by torrential rains over the past few days, leading to extensive flooding, power outages, and transportation disruptions. Over 270,000 residents are affected, and significant damage has been reported to homes and agriculture, with crops in more than 47 mandals submerged. The Budameru rivulet has breached its banks, exacerbating the flooding, and there are fears that power and water supply will not be restored until water levels recede. At least nine people have died due to rain-related incidents, including landslides, and many areas are isolated with disrupted communication. Relief efforts are underway, with the state government requesting assistance from the central government, including NDRF teams and power boats. Heavy rains are expected to continue, with a red alert issued for several districts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
